No Fish Zones In Loreto Bay Marine Park
Protected Zones In Loreto Bay Marine Park
There are several areas throughout the marine park that are "No-fish" zones. The "no-fish" zones are designated on the maps in RED. This means both commercial and recreational fishing are not allowed. This also means if you see red next to the shore, you cannot fish from the shore.
There are other zones that have different use restrictions and on the map. Those are the "green areas." The green areas are sites of great importance for tourism and commerce.
Here you can only carry out fishing for: domestic consumption, artisanal, promotion, didactic and sports-recreational fishing. The fishing gear used will be exclusively poteras, piola and hook, due to its high selectivity.
If you wish to fish, it is also allowed in the blue area. Only the red preservation zones are non-fishing areas.
You can check out this Reglas Bahia de Loreto for more information regarding the restrictions. It is is Spanish, so if you need to translate, just copy and paste the text in "Google Translate."

These maps are subject to change and may contain errors. Speak with local law enforcement if you have any questions about where you can and cannot fish in Loreto Bay.
Protected Zones Near Loreto Bay / Nopolo
Protected/No Fishing Zones Loreto Bay
The no fish zone/protected zone starts about 100 yards north of Nopolo Rock. If you were on the beach, it starts about just north of Nopolo's community lap pool or the "Beach Club" (non-existent). There is a sign that marks the area too.
I would always error on the side of caution and stay away from the starting points to avoid any possible violations/confrontations.
